a img of seller and buyers using stoopers

Stooper is a practice project that documents the ongoing progress of my learning journey in UX design, with updates reflecting the evolving development of the project.

About Stoopers

Stoopers is a second-hand tradeoff app designed to bridge the gap between buyers and sellers by providing a platform focused on local, affordable, and convenient transactions. While there are many apps for second-hand trading, existing platforms often suffer from issues such as overly commercialized listings, irrelevant search results, or items located too far away.

The problem

Imagine needing a simple, affordable second-hand item—like a city bike—for a short commute to the grocery store. You don’t want something new or expensive, just functional and nearby. Existing platforms might offer options that are too far away or don’t match your budget or preferences.

The Solution

Stoopers addresses these gaps by enabling users to post specific requests for the items they need, with filters such as price range and distance. Sellers who have matching items can respond directly, creating a streamlined and personalized trading experience.

User Journey Example

Scenario: You’re looking for a second-hand bike.

  • Log into Stoopers and post a request: “Looking for a city bike, budget 50-100 RMB, within 20km from my home.”
  • Bob, a nearby user with an unused bike, receives a notification about your request. He responds with a picture of his bike and a price of 100 RMB.
  • After some negotiation, you and Bob agree on 65 RMB. You drive to pick up the bike, completing the transaction conveniently and affordably.

Benefits of Stoopers

If you’re a fan of second-hand trades, Stoopers is an excellent choice for the following reasons:

  • Personalized Requests: Buyers can specify exactly what they’re looking for, including budget and proximity.
  • Local Focus: Sellers and buyers are matched based on their geographical location, reducing travel time and costs.
  • Efficient Communication: Integrated messaging and notification features allow seamless interaction between users.
  • Fair Pricing: Negotiation tools enable users to agree on mutually satisfactory deals.
  • Sustainability: Promotes the reuse of items, reducing waste and encouraging eco-friendly consumption.

The Stoopers project highlights my ability to understand user needs, craft intuitive solutions, and deliver impactful user experiences. As this practice project evolves, additional UX design steps will be documented—stay tuned for updates!
